Further Details: A distiller Hiram Walker (1816 - 1899) was born in East Douglass, Massachusetts, on the 4th July 1816. He moved to Canda in 1858 and opend a distillery on the eastern side of the Detroit river, around which the town of Walkerville grow up. He had three sons who helped him run the business, till he died on the 12th January 1899.
