Further Details: A mineralogist, Thomas Leonard Walker was born in Ontario, Canada, and was educated at Queen's University and the University of Leipzig. From 1897 to 1901 he was the assistant superintendent of the Geological Survey of India. He then became the professor of mineralogy at the University of Toronto. He was married to Mary Augusta Wood and they had two sons and one daughter. He is the author of 'Crystallography' (1914). He died in Toronto, Canada on the 6th August 1942.
