He is noted as being the author of 'The Knapsack: A collection of fugitive poems' (1853) and 'Personal recollections of military adventure in Great Britain, Portugal and Canada' (1859). He lived in Canada from around 1848, and was the assistant editor of the Quebec Gazette.
